- bring up the master and press Plugin. (double tap somewhere to bring up the master)
- Then to assign a plugin to a track, select the track's insert by pressing the 'I' button above the mute
switch.
- Then press the Assign button on the master overlay.

Now you can use the knob to select a plugin.
To accept it, double tap the knob. Now you have assigned a plugin to an insert.

To edit a plugin, tap Plugin, make sure Assign isn't blinking, then select the channel using the I button,
then double tap the knob for the plugin you want to edit. After that you will see the parameters for that
plugin above the knobs.

Take a look at this doc for more HUI goodness:
http://akmedia.digidesign.com/support/docs/MIDI_Cntrl_Surfaces_Guide_25939.pdf

On page 57, section: Working with Plug-Ins: Using the DSP Edit/Assign Section

--------------------------------------

how to edit plugins for Logic:

- press the plugin key. this will allow you to _select_ what plugin you want to put on the insert that is
currently selected (look at the navigate window, it will have a number on it).
- press the plugin key AGAIN to edit the existing plugins...

Use the knobs to change the parameter values listed across the top of the fader bank or use the FLIP
button to use the faders instead.

ok, i can assign a plugin, but have no idea how to edit it.
whatever i double tap, i just get a big knob, saying "Pug 50",
but i can´t see any parameter of the plug...
???

a manual would be very helpful...

i´m using pro tools 9.02 and just upgraded to the full
version.

You can double tap the giant knob or disable the giant knob in the
prefs and the above instructions will work.

Also try googling for "protools control surface manual" will bring up

cool, thank you for your help :-)

another question: is there a way to flip the plugin parameters, or the pan?
it seems like flip works only with the send levels, is that right?

For ProTools there is not. Perhaps we can add something to fake it
as this is a great feature. Apps like Apple Logic do this but with HUI
it's a bit different because the actual plugin controls are separate
from the main controls.
