2nd attempt magically midi ports appeared to the system. I succeeded also in setting up mackie control
(used mackie HUI) for the first 8 channels. Thanks for the hints.
I'd now like to setup what would be really useful for me. I'm going to buy a firewire external card (motu
traveler or fireface 800): both have live, stand alone capabilities i.e. the possibility to live mix being
controlled by the midi port (i guess both under mackie protocol). My desire is to set up a system that
uses the laptop as proremote server and:
1) pipes the commands to a phisical midi port connected to the card, using their stand-alone
capabilities, or
2) control through proremote the real-time mixers bundled with cards (CUEmix for the traveler
http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/traveler-mk3/mixing.html and totalmix for the fireface
800)
Both cards have 8 analog inputs. In this way should be possible to realize a remotable mixing facility
for live events (its a theater show, 3 mikes plus a couple of guitars and prerecorded bases).
Do you think that this could be done in principle or not?
(sorry, this last question should maybe posted elsewhere in the forum...)
Thanks again
Once I get more familiar with Windows MIDI setups I will better be able to recommend a solution to
this. You will need someway to "wire" the MOTU Traveler's MIDI to ProRemote's MIDI. If you can do
this, you will be good to go- the rest should just "work".
On the Mac you can just do this from the Audio/MIDI setup app but on
Windows you may need a piece of third party software to wire the traveler's MIDI to ProRemote's MIDI
(the problem being that ProRemote MIDI doesn't exist in hardware).
Let me see what I can find out there that does the job- I think MIDI Yoke will probably allow you to do
that- but use that software with caution! It can funk itself out if improperly configured.

and Maple is pretty good I hear:

Maybe others can suggest other solutions as well.
