Can't get pro transport to work

I just bought pro transport for use with logic 8 express and I can't get it to work. The midi driver installed fine. used the right mackie hui contol and set it to smpte. Protransport doesn't show up. I can see that it is receiving midi input but nothing happens. If I set this up manually in the key commands I can get it to work but this is very tedious to do. I could have done that with another free program if I wanted to. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend downloading the latest version of the Server,
then removing (delete) the Mackie HUI control surfaces from
Logic.

After you have removed all traces of the Mackie HUI, tell
Logic to rescan control surfaces. Logic will auto-detect
ProRemote if you have everything installed properly.

Basically this newer version supports the Mackie Control
protocol which works much better than Logic's HUI support.
Give it a shot!

Post back here and let me know how it goes!

Rescanned and shows 4 mackie controllers, is this normal?.
Very buggy operation. Playback sticks occasionally, seems to
be related to loop on/off. Not ready for prime time yet
unfortunately...

Be sure to remove the HUI control surfaces. These will cause
extremely erratic behavior. And yes, in this new version we
implemented Mackie Control.

We had a major setback with Apple today which has delayed
me from updating the install docs!

Cleared everything out. Rescanned, reinstalled, spent a good
hour trying to troubleshoot, same problems. Operation seems
flakey at best. Last Tiger update/Macbook Pro/Mac Pro Quad.
Latest v of Logic.
