Stutter

Works ok, except that whenever I press 'play', Logic stutters on the first beat. I've tried using different buffer settings, but nothing is fixing the stutter. How do I fix this?

After not quite getting this to work properly with Logic a while
ago I decided to give it another try. Indeed, the thing stutters
on playback just as described above. Honestly, this is useless
still so I'm going to have to forget the $10 spent and warn
people to steer clear.

I haven't seen this problem here in the lab but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Perhaps there is
something in your config that is causing this problem? The large majority of ProTransport users do
not have this problem (me included).

Perhaps you could contact me via IM and we can screen-share so that I can debug the problem first
hand?

Deleted the mackie controls and re-scanned. Now it appears to
be stable. Weird. On another note, how do you change the
behavior of the FFWD/FRWD buttons. For instance, I'd like the
Fast Rewind button to take me back to the left locator. Instead
it always goes back to zero. Thanks.

Ok you can do this but it requires messing with the controller assignments in Logic.

- Hit Command-K (this bring you to Controller Assignments):
- in the last pane on the right end of the window, select the Show... button below
the "Command:" field (this will bring up the key commands window)

- Select "Go to Left Locator"
- Press the "Learn New Assignment" button
- Put Rewind in the Control Name field
- in the Input Message section be sure that the MIDI Input popup menu is set to "ProRemote Port
1"
- the value change field should be set to "90 5B Lo7"

Repeat the process for going to the right locator (if you want).
The value change field for the right side is:
"90 5C Lo7"

Let me know if this makes any sense. I tested it and it works great! Cool idea.

Nah. We have an issue here. I want to use the shuttle rewind
and shuttle forward buttons for navigation. Not the regular
rewind/fastforward buttons. It looks like the shuttle rewind
button puts out the same command as the stop button.
Changing one changes the other. The shuttle forward button
doesn't put out any command whatsoever.

Try using the Zoom page on the multi-scrubber. It doesn't send a stop when your finger comes up. I don't think
the shuttle page does either.

You get to the other pages in the multi-scrubber by grabbing at the edges and scrolling it left or right.

Not sure what the logic is there. Open cmd/k and hit the
learn button. Hit the protransport shuttle rwd button and
you'll see the same string as the stop button show up. Hit
the shuttle fwd button and nothing will show up meaning
the button is disabled. This means both buttons provide no
valid function at all.

This is not the way I recommended you remap the functions as a matter of fact we don't support
remapping of any functions on ProTransport as some of the commands (as you have seen) are more
complicated than a single command. I'm not gonna stop you from remapping stuff because I want
ProTransport to be as useful as possible, I just want you to know that I can't spend more time helping
you with unsupported features.

What I recommend is that you look at the Logic documentation for how to remap control surface
commands. From what it sounds like, you may have messed up your mapping- I believe you can
bring it back to defaults somehow. Also- try the zoom page instead of the shuttle commands or
remap some other controls like the in and out buttons. You can also probably find the Mackie Control
Spec somewhere online with all the commands in it.

best,
alex
