How to work with Digital Performer 7.1

I sort of went off the deep end and bought ProTransport since
it was the least expensive app. Needless to say, I can't get it to
work with DP7. Thought it was supposed to appear as a Mackie
Control, but not luck.

I posted this in another area of this forum but thought this
info might help you with DP support:
-------------------------------------------

I can see that nothing much is happening on the Digital
Performer side of things it looks like. As I said, I have been
experimenting with ProTransport and did get it to work a
little.

One major quirk/stumbling block when it comes to DP, is
that devices that appear automatically in AMS, like USB
keyboards and software like ProRemote, aren't seen by DP
without a workaround. What you must do is manually create
a new MIDI device in Audio MIDI Setup, name it "ProRemote"
and then connect up the ins/outs of its MIDI port to the
ins/outs on the real ProRemote. Attached is what this looks
like in AMS.

FWIW, ProRemote appears in AMS with four ports by default.
This is why the person who scanned for Mackie Controls in
Logic had four devices appear... that happened to me in
Logic Express 8.02 as well. I don't know why your
ProRemote driver presents four ports, but oh well. I just
ignored 2 through 4 and hooked up to Port 1. Again, see the
attached graphic.

This will at least get you started. Problem is however, that
the location display on the iPhone seems to work when you
start from the beginning of a sequence, but then if you jump
around gets arbitrary measure numbers even though beats
seem correct. Stop, Play, Rec seem to work as well as Scrub
but not Shuttle. The rest of it produces odd results.

Key thing that might help you troubleshoot this is the trick
shown in the graphic to get DP to see the MIDI source of the
Pro Remote (aka virtual Mackie Control)

Note... graphic isn't uploading.

If my attempt above to embed the graphic work
you can see it here:

I've been testing with DP6 and I will add support for this in the next release. I will try to update
the graphics as well.
